Garton’s Ark- Wine, Dine & Sail - Island Life Sri Lanka

Garton’s Ark- Wine, Dine & Sail

Dining or hanging out with your family or friends while sailing was a new concept for most of us in Colombo.( well not anymore ! not after 2014' certainly)

Gartons Ark” The largest double decked sailing restaurant in Colombo, stationed near the urban wetland park in Nawala (weli park as we all call it), is managed by Garton Hotel Pvt Ltd. you are treated to a 2 hours of cruising amidst the serene and tranquil, lush green surroundings of the diyawanna lake which is guaranteed to sooth your mind, body and soul in More ways than one.

I have been aboard few times with my fiancé ,the last visit was on the 24th December, The Christmas Eve.

Guests can experience a wide range of mouth watering, delicious food items on the menu, They have a Special international Dinner Buffets happening on the weekends mainly and selected days Monthly . Not only that, they have added a much waited drinks menu lately well, (I remember we used to do BYOB aboard sometime back )Now that they have added an extensive list of beverages you are spoil for choice,

Garton’s Ark is the perfect mix of class and elegance. Especially on a starry night, on the upper deck, sipping on your favorite cocktail or wine with your special other is a perfect start to a romantic dinner out.( But when it rains it can be a mood spoiler as you are left with no choice but confined to the lower deck)

I wish they serve the food on the upper deck though, but I guess the hassle of arranging the buffet on the upper deck would have prompted them to not to do so.so like it or not You need to step down to the lower deck for your dinner (from the ala carte or the buffets depending on the day you visit) fully air conditioned, comfortable seating's, fully lit up ambience, creates that elegance of a star class dinner- out

The cruise starts at 8 pm and its so smooth you wont even feel it, except for the sound of the horn which alarms the people on the upper deck to duck under the old bridge across the lake,( if you are standing that is) be sure to do a prior reservation just in case as, they seem to be more popular with the people in and around Colombo city and weekends seemed to be almost full.

Please be sure to go to the front of the deck when you are aboard to experience an uninterrupted view of the lake and the green surrounding, you can talk to The captain on board and ask him to allow you on the wheels for a bit. ( How about That for an experience ! ) i remember my fiancé had her hands on the wheels (one of those perfect facebook or instagramable moments)

its very affordable if you ask me, international buffet will cost around 3000 net per head, the meals, scrumptious desserts, the ride, and the experience that comes with it will not make you think twice .

You can host your Birthday party, anniversary gathering or office get to gathers and even weddings can be accommodated on board so if you are planning on your next function feel free to talk to them as they will guide you through every step of the way for you to have an unforgettable experience

If you are visiting for the first time Google maps will come in handy, They are located at 9/47, 6th Lane, Pagoda Road 10250 Nugegoda, Sri Lanka,(and if you are still unable to find the place you can call this number 076 800 060 and bug him or her for the directions)
