The Grove Colombo- Lets grove together
The Grove Colombo- Lets grove together
Restaurants, cafes, lounges and eateries of all sizes and shapes have been sprouting up in every nook and cranny in the city of Colombo, and very seldom we see a restaurant being opened up in the outskirts of the Colombo city, so not just one but few known restaurant brands in one place is undoubtedly a unique affair indeed,
Ever heard of a place like that in Colombo?? Not many I know for sure.
The Grove Colombo in Kirulapona, Just adjacent to the Nugegoda city, located on the high-level road right opposite Kandy showroom is The Grove Colombo.

I stumbled upon their page on fb as soon as it opened the doors for customers in the beginning of the year,( i think ) ever since, I have visited this place every month, the first thought that crossed my mind was downsouth, the restaurants in the coastal area, more than anything else, this place has the similar vibe and its not so much of a surprise I fell in love with the venue and the surrounding, the fact that nugegoda is a shopping and a tuition hub in Colombo and to find such a quiet chilled out venue on the side of the road ( despite few honking busses during the rush hours) is s more of a surprise indeed.

they have Indian and Thai cuisines from mango/jack tree, Italian dishes and pizzas from Michael Angelo, smoked and grilled meat items from Whistling Hog (which i am yet to try out )they even have a new coffee shop which is the Bibos cafe Colombo” serving cakes, desserts, waffles, snacks and they sell illy coffee. Bibos is quite popular for their passion fruit mousse, waffles, paninis and Pavlov’s.

so you already know what these outlets offer, simply put they got something for every taste bud I would say, when ever we visit Grove Colombo me and my fiancé always opt for mango tree and its verities, butter naans, paneer, tikka masala is our hot favorite by the mango tree, but we have tried Michael Angelo pizza too, if I remember right its the Hawaiian chicken thin crust pizza that we liked the most, perched in the middle of the garden is the common dining area shared by all the food outlets in the premises, you can also go up the stairs , the alfresco setting and the with all the string lights hanging from trees. will set the mood right for a quite romantic dinner under the stars,(if its not cloudy)

If you are working in the vicinity the tag along with your colleague during or even after work and head on down to have a coffee or a chilled drink, the leafy surrounding with so many tress around will cool your burning souls down in no time,
I like how the place transforms itself to another level on the weekend nights, fully lit up all around with live jazzy acoustic music to keep us entertained while we munch on our favorite dish, they have the BYOB concept going on which I think is a must have for place like this, sticking by the concept we too have had many quiet drinks at the venue, never been disappointed once with regards to the service we have received.

Italian nights, BBQ Nights, Hoppers Night were some of the theme nights that were gathering lot of crowd few months back apart from the theme nights They have had few other event concepts happening before the covid 19 pandemic such as pop up markets ,arts exhibition, yoga sessions etc., but unfortunately it has come to a halt with the current safety and health regulations in the country, but I got to tell you every time I visited I have seen a growing crowd in there, which I think is a good and a positive sign that Grove Colombo will be a most visited place by the patrons in and around Colombo very soon

It’s like a house transformed into a food court in a garden. Giant leafy trees, old fashioned verandahs, water streams, big garden and chilled music all these elements certainly gives that homely but classy touch to the venue and the ambience, long story short, it definitely is a place to unwind in more ways than one
The Grove Colombo is a timely add on to the restaurant business in the country . I wish nothing but success for them and their staff .I hope they will stand the test of corona times and do well in the future and I'm pretty sure Grove Colombo can easily stand out as a venue in this highly competitive restaurant industry .
